Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
This policy explains what information Daily Dungeon (the "Game", at this website) collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. The Game is made and operated by Gob Industries ("we", "us").
- You can play without an account, and we never ask for your name or email.
- We store an anonymous player id plus your puzzle results so streaks and leaderboards work.
- The Game is free because of ads from Google, which may use cookies. You can opt out of personalized ads.
- We don't sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
- Anonymous player id and display name. On your first visit your browser creates a random id and a random display name (like "Brave Lantern 17"), saved in your browser's local storage and on our server. You can change the name.
- Game results. For each puzzle you finish: the date, your moves, time, and undo/restart counts.
- Optional account. If you create one: a username and a password, which we store only as a salted cryptographic hash (we never see or keep the password itself), plus login session tokens (also stored hashed). No email address is required.
- Settings. Sound, theme and control preferences are kept only in your browser's local storage.
- Anonymous usage counts. We count page views per screen and whether ad spaces were filled, as daily totals with no ids attached.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our servers process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages, prevent abuse (rate limiting) and keep short-lived server logs for troubleshooting.
2. How we use it
To run the Game: show daily puzzles, record results, calculate streaks and leaderboards, keep you signed in, prevent cheating and abuse, fix problems, and understand overall usage. Leaderboards show display names only, never your player id or account details.
3. Cookies and local storage
The Game itself uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) for your player id, settings and in-progress puzzle. Our advertising partner uses cookies and similar technologies as described below. You can clear local storage and cookies at any time in your browser settings; this resets your anonymous progress on that device.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Specifically:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized ads are used, and can change their choices at any time from the privacy settings link that message provides. Ads only appear in clearly labeled spaces and never cover the puzzle.
5. Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the Game (such as our hosting and database providers, and Google for advertising), when required by law, or to protect the Game and its players.
6. Your choices and rights
You can change your display name, delete your local data from your browser, and opt out of personalized ads as described above. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. To make a request, contact us with your username or player id. We'll respond within the time required by law.
7. Data retention
Results and accounts are kept while your player profile exists, so your history and streaks keep working. Server logs are short-lived (detailed logs are kept in memory and roll over continuously; error records are kept up to 90 days). When you ask us to delete your data, we remove your player profile, runs and account.
8. Security
The Game is served over HTTPS, passwords and session tokens are stored only as hashes, and administrative access is protected by single sign-on. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Children
The Game is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Game changes. The effective date above shows the latest version.
